Pringles & Little Caesars Crazy Puffs: What a Greek tragedy! Worst timing for these two ideas to overlap. If I had to choose one, I'd stick with the Little Caesars ad—I feel the flying eyebrows have a stronger reason behind their journey. Then again, who cares? It’s the Super Bowl, and sometimes stupid ideas should fly freely with no logic at all. That being said, I like both ads. Bonus points for the "We are not worthy" scene with the caterpillars in Little Caesars' spot.
Wouldn’t it be great to interview the creatives behind both campaigns? Maybe someone already has done it? It would be fascinating to see if it was just a zeitgeist thing, a very wild coincidence, a Matrix error.

Doritos: Well-produced, but a concept that might have been perfect for the ’80s—don’t you think? That being said, I know this was tested, and everybody loved it, so who are we to say it’s wrong? Sometimes the simplest and downright stupid ideas just win. I do know that when they tested this ad, the standout moment for audiences was when the guy struggles to hold the bag of Doritos and says, "Come on, man! Agggh!!" They found that hilarious. That just speaks volumes about how important casting and acting are, because sometimes, a small, genuine moment like that is enough to keep people engaged. In a world of overly artificial stories, that little wink connected with the audience.
On another note, I wondered how much Doritos saved, considering this was part of a creative contest. From what I read, they received a ton of produced ads, and the winner got prize money along with a Super Bowl spot.

Jeep: I drive a Jeep, so I totally relate to the Harrison Ford Big Game ad. Since I’m biased, I won’t say too much. I suspect it might have come across as a bit cheesy—but maybe that’s just because it was shown alongside a lineup of hysterical, high-energy ads that felt more in line with the typical Super Bowl vibe.
Idea-wise, I think it’s a classic manifesto. I particularly liked when HF says, "Pride is a terrible driver" and "This Jeep makes me happy, even when my name is Ford." That last line, to me, was the most memorable part and what truly makes the idea unique. Without it, it would’ve been just another ad featuring a paid celebrity for the sake of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDn_uFEXGXk
Stella Artois: The Other David. I think it was an interesting and witty take, but something about it didn’t fully land for me. Even though I think it could’ve been funnier or built up a bit more, I did enjoy a few jokes—especially the nod to Ben Affleck (Matt’s best friend IRL) as a reference for Beckham’s level of fame at home. Then Matt responds with, “That’s a shame.” To me, that was the funniest moment of all—just a little too late in the end.

MTN Dew: Every year during the Super Bowl, I sit at home with a little notebook, jotting down my first impressions of the ads. Why? Because I find it really fun—and as an advertising creative, I think it’s a great exercise. This year, though, I was at a bar, and with kids, and with all the noise, it was hard to catch every ad live.
However, when this ad started, it demanded attention. Seal was beyond hilarious, and from now on, whenever I’m sad, I’ll always remember him as an actual seal, struggling to grab the MTN Dew because it’s too slippery. I will never forget his panicked face when he freezes as the orcas approach—or, even better, when Jason Momoa deadpans, “None of this makes sense.” I love that the client/agency fully embraced the absurdity. Does this make sense? Nah! And that’s exactly why it works. It openly acknowledges its own randomness, inviting everyone to just enjoy it. Did you have fun? Good enough! Do you remember the brand? Great!
Definitely my favorite ad of the year.

Budweiser: When I first saw this ad during the Super Bowl, I honestly didn’t get the story or enjoy it—the cuts felt too fast. But when I found it again online, I actually thought it was VERY cute. I love the story… but yep, as many other stories, this one was great only in the 1:38 min version, not so much in the short one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0iKgJXy_gk
Coors Light: Ah! What an amazing reel Mischief has been building lately. Not too long ago, they released the Steak-cation campaign for Outback Steakhouse, which was absolutely hilarious. They have a knack for taking insights and stretching them into the most absurd situations.
Different style this time, but still incredibly insightful. With Case of the Mondays, they nailed that universal feeling of how we truly experience the start of the week. I don’t think there was a single person who couldn’t relate to their absurd visual metaphor of humans behaving like sloths.
My favorite scene? Just when we’ve fully embraced Sloth World, they take it even further—showing a slow-motion robbery, with sloth thieves painfully escaping at a snail’s pace. But the best part? At the end, a guy walks in with a case of Coors Light and tosses a beer to the sloth on the couch… and, of course, the sloth completely misses it. Sounds ridiculous, but I love when brands are bold enough to show their products in imperfect, real-life moments—whether they get thrown to the floor, smashed, or shown as dirty and used, rather than always looking pristine.
Kudos to the Coors Light marketing team and Mischief for everything they’re doing.

SUPERBOWL 2O24:
CeraVe: My favorite of all 2024 SB commercials. FUN FUN FUN + great PR teaser campaign. Shout out to Ogilvy PR / NY for this beauty. Great work!

Doordash: Very interactive and personally: I got obsessed. I loved it.

Kawasaki Ridge: It started great, I laughed in several moments but…it ended just ok. Predictable. ( I wished it had ended with a creative twist or something more unexpected, such as maybe stopping the car just before the last guy (the bald one) and spontaneously turning left to explore the mountain nearby? Boom! No mullet for that dude.
